I think it would be awesome to know what people look for whenever the go to different stores to get things for crabs.

So, if you can, answer this question filling in as many different places as possible:

I'm going to __________ and I will look for __________ for my hermit crabs.

Example:

I'm going to a craft store and I will look for shells for my hermit crabs.

I think this could be a great resource and help a lot of newbies and oldies get new ideas on where to find things!

Possible places:

Home improvement store
Walmart
Dollar store
Garden center
Grocery store
Craft store
Etc.

Basically what you look for when it comes to your hermits in any given store!

Thanks!

I look for natural hemp rope in every craft isle because I just like crocheting, creating, new ideas for them to climb on.
I look for organic sections in any grocery store, seeing how my crabs like different stuff.
I look for fluker's grasshoppers at every pet section to compare prices, they're not sold at petsmart.
I look at tanks online all the time, never know when there's going to be a good deal on an upgrade tank.

I always look for funky ceramic or terra cotta items that would be fun adds to the crabitat when I'm in a thrift store (i.e., Goodwill)...things that would serve as hides, climbers, moss pits. Thrift stores are also wonderful sources of artificial plants and vines!

I buy tiny amounts of grains or seeds to add to the crabs' diet when I'm at Sprouts. These alternative grocery stores have a large selection of bulk items so buying just an ounce or so is easy (and economical).

I go to the dollar store for fake plants and terracotta pots.
I go to Tractor Supply for dried mealworms.
I go to Bed Bath & Beyond for shower caddies.
I go to Home Depot for play sand.
I go to the garden center for worm castings.

I like to go to micheals and buy those little bags of shells. I have found some really great ones in there and some make good little food bowls

I go to Value Village (thrift store) to find cheap sushi dishes that I use as food bowls for my hermies.
I also go to Value Village to find bags of little river rocks and sometimes shells.
I go to garden centers because the fancier ones sometimes have turbo shells and cool ornaments to decorate my tank with.
And I go to Michael's for crafting supplies like magnets, hooks, natural hemp twine, etc when making my own terrarium decor.

A couple of the grocery stores that I go to have small plants in their floral section. I'm always looking for appropriate plants to rotate through/give the crabs to trash in the crabitat.
