Mail order crabs
Hello all! I am a little worried. I ordered a few E's online and thought they would come over the weekend only to find out that the order doesnt ship till like two weeks after you place it. I paid for overnight shipping but the weather is getting chilly at night here and I am concerned they will get too cold. Why oh why do they hafta wait two weeks to ship? I wish they would have been up front about that when I placed the order, instead of waiting till after I confirmed the order to share that little tidbit of information. Arg! I have never ordered them online b4 but that was the only eay to get E's in my area.

Re: Mail order crabs
They should be shipping them with a heat pack, though in my opinion it is a little late in the year for them to be shipping.
As for livehermitcrabs.Com, I have never ordered from them myself as i am in Canada, but I have heard quite a few negative concerns but also some positive.. Seems to be mixed experiences.

Re: Mail order crabs
You need to read the last few pages of the LHC thread - I don't think anyone got their crabs in the last few months and she's not responding to anyone either. A bunch of people had to contact Paypal and their credit card company to get their money back. http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/ph ... 05#p986405

Re: Mail order crabs
In addition to what Wode said, it is extremely ill advised to have hermit crabs shipped until late spring. It is too cold up north and temps are slowly dropping in the south as well.

Re: Mail order crabs
When I ordered them it was still staying in the mid 70s at night so I thought it would be fine. I am so angry and dissapointed. I am Filing a claim with paypal since thats how I paid for it. Let the frustration begin!

Re: Mail order crabs
I've never done business with this particular website in question but being the only admin that the old LHC.com had I had to deal with the customer complaints quite often because the woman who owns the store isn't that great about doing business in a timely manner which is sad and unfortunate.
I know from talking with several LHC members back in 2012 they were having issues with getting their orders shipped and a couple of them ended up with dead hermitcrabs when they arrived because the process of getting the poor things shipped took six weeks instead of it being the two that she promises.
I do know that the couple who owned and ran ExoticLandHermitCrabs.com were also running it out of their house and had to let the business go and the husband ended up selling the hermitcrabs that they had in stock on E-Bay to another vendor and his shipping policy was even worse he would not give you refunds on dead on arrivals and would ship at the worst times and when a bunch of us Admin's at the LHC Christa Wilkin included sent him emails asking what was up he gave some weak excuse that it was because his wife had been sick and her medical bills were pilling and this was the third time he'd done this in four years he would get behind on his orders and come up with an excuse and so he eventually ended up shutting his website down permanently and sold all the exotic hermitcrabs that he had in his home.
It makes me wonder if the same folks who owned ELHC.com also own and operate LiveHermitCrabs.com because it sure does sound very similar to how he and his wife were doing business between 2010 and 2012????

Re: Mail order crabs
LHC is a single mom with a kid who has health problems. She's got valid reasons for not being to do this, but she stopped all contact and all mailings since I think June - and the site should have been taken down by now since she can't keep up. With how many complaints Paypal has received and with no response from her about them (it shows to the person who filed the complaint if the company responds) I honestly can't get over that they're still processing payments on the account.

Wow i called paypal to try and stop them from paying it but they said there was no evidence of any issue and i would have to try and file a complaint because they were going to go ahead and pay it. Now i am even more frustrated than before! What is this world coming to? I understand if she has issues and cannot run her business but she is making tons of money while she does nothing and people like me just have to live with being charged for an order that we will never recieve. That is fraud.

Re: Mail order crabs
If you only ordered a couple of weeks ago, there hasn't been long enough time passed to file a complaint with PayPal. Unless I am mistaken, it is at least 30 days.me n my hermikids wrote:Wow i called paypal to try and stop them from paying it but they said there was no evidence of any issue and i would have to try and file a complaint because they were going to go ahead and pay it. Re: Mail order crabs
Have to wait at least 7 days after purchase to open a dispute about an item not received. They then contact the seller and try to figure out what's up and work out a solution. However, YOU have to escalate the dispute to a full claim (for any reason) within the following 20 days or you're out of luck on getting your money back ever.

(No signs of trouble? Honestly? I know at least a dozen people who had claims approved and got their money back so far!)
