I was on etsy buying airplants when I came across a store that also sells shells!
how nice, save on shipping.
prices are quite reasonable too. i bought several of the 75% off "as is" plants since the crabbies don't care on the asthetics. in particular they seem to enjoy Tillandsia Pseudobaileyi because it's got a thicker core that is more climbable

That's a pretty sweet deal!
One thing to look out for with plants is fertilizers.... I know that for my (non crab) airplants I have a fertilizer that I mix with water & soak 'em in once a month-ish. Flower shops mostly do the same. Crabs can be sensitive to ferts, so getting plants that are pet safe is a good idea.

Oh those are lovely shells!
Do hermies like to eat air plants or just to climb? Just curious cuz I've been thinking about getting some myself

Most likely a bit of both until it resembles a brown blob.

ok I've confirmed that the Tillandsia Velutina is absolutely being devoured. I finally saw one eating it and he was going crazy on it.
The Tillandsia Pseudobaileyi remains in pretty good shape due to its thickness, although the tips been cut off in a few places

oh! if Pseudobaileyi can hold up, then bulbosa should be okay, too then? since it is even harder/spikier?
would love to learn how Pseudobaileyi fare in your tat in the near future! and how do you mount your airplant in the tank so it won't rot? ziptie on the tank wall? do you have a UVB light to keep the airplant happy?

Bulbosa seems like it'd probably do ok too.
I just have it sitting in a corner between the tank glass and my corkwood. Since mine is on the large side, some of the pressure points are on the leaves and some are on one side of the base where it's supported by the corkwood. Larger is probably better since otherwise they push it around too much.
No uvb light and the tank is not in direct light. Time will tell how it fares!

My crabs looooove air plants! Tina is my little gardener of a crab. She has dragged a whole air plant off. What is the seller if you don't mine me asking? I can't find safe air plants any more and would love some again!

Sorry! I realized after asking the seller title was silly.
