Thursday 22nd December Day 19

0730 OK 6 at least (it’s so hard to keep track) on the sand running around climbing things. 5 on the sand ramp out of water but not on land yet.
I got some good photos and more video. This is amazing to think that I may have 11 more crabs in a few days time.

1400 2 of stragglers in the mega jars have finally chosen shells. One was in a shell that looks just like a cornetto icecream. (Aussies will know this reference) Both raced straight to the top of the pool as soon as they were placed in the transition pool. Cornetto kept his shell on the other did a nudi run. I tried to squirt it back into the water with an eyedropper but that didn't work so I put the shell at the top of the exit ramp. Still 3 stragglers who are either too slow to know what shells are all about or too jolly fussy and can't find one out of the 30 or so that they like. Open cupboard and say OMG I've got nothing to wear.

Congratulations! You are doing so awesome! I'm so looking forward to hear about how these guys grow up! :) This is truly exciting! :cheer: The bit about them being picky does crack me up though, I suppose it shows they are fussy even as babies. :D

Water changed food added for those still there. Some sprinkled on the damp top of the exit ramps. Heat mats on thermostat. Tank sealed with masking tape to prevent escapees and they will have to fend for themselves for 24hours while I am off north to go scuba diving. They fend for themselves in the big wide ocean so should be fine in my transition tank. :-)

This is so amazing! And so generous of you to share! I've had one failed attempt this year (U.S.) and am hoping for another shot come summer.

I'm wondering, for the new hatchlings, did you keep the light on 24 hours a day like some others have done? Or did you give them regular day/night cycles? I'm torn as to which to do for my next attempt.
