i shouldnt be surprised. tho they always surprise me...hahaha.Renroc wrote:At the moment they are getting ground up fine beta grains (they got them whole in the jars) powdered cuttlebone, powdered black worms and meal worms, spirulina powder, crushed up dehydrated spinach, insectivore mix, powdered dehydrated mango, crushed egg shell, crushed blue swimmer crab shell, bee pollen,Brine shrimp eggs and a little bit of all natural chicken and sweet corn baby puree. I also put a tiny tiny baby grape in that I split open.Just Jay wrote:Id assume once they are teeny size they would be safe for gen pop but really good question. I wonder if they need easier to eat food as well?

BUT having watched that one rip its sibling apart I think they are actually more able than you would think to eat stuff. I will put in some tiny fragments of chicken in a day or so.
just like i put some dried mango in that was too hard for my birds and the crabs had no problem with it.

Aussie Breeding Success Dec 2016/Jan2017
Sunday 1st January 2017 Day 28
Have started the babies on solids, .... well on real food. They got a tiny grape split open, some over ripe banana and the tiny tiny scrapings of scrambled egg off the fork. They have been up and tried them all. Still have about 13 running around.
Yesterday and today have been scorchers here and the tat got up to 35c but that didn't seem to bother them. Humidity is still high though so it should be fine.

There is a difference already but because they are so tiny it probably doesn't show up clearly enough in the photos. But let me say this they use both equally as adeptly to shovel food into their mouths.LadyJinglyJones wrote:![]()

Aussie Breeding Success Dec 2016/Jan2017
Tuesday 3rd January 2017 Day 30
Today has been fairly active in the trans tank. Lots of babies out and about. The egg is still popular but it is starting to stink so I will take it out later tonight.
Tonight I changed all the food dishes. One has only got crushed cuttlebone, another has shrimp and beta food and blackworms, another purely mealworms and the 4th crushed eggshell and mango. I also took out the fresh pool and cleaned it as there was green slime. I changed the sponge to a large square of the other sponge that is like leather.
Could count about 9 out tonight and a few were trying the silicone join in the right back corner. Going to keep at least the corners of the front taped up from now on. Got one out on my hand and took a few pics. BOY did it move fast.
Photos to follow when I get some time later.

Sorry looks like I missed this. I am feeding them fine grain beta food.PinchersAndShells wrote:May I ask what you are feeding them? I plan on attempting breeding when I'm an adult, so I've been recording what people are feeding, what kinds of tank they make, water conditions, etc.

I think they meant feeding before the mated to see if diet plays a roleRenroc wrote:Sorry looks like I missed this.
