Seems that all 7 transfered to the other jar (with fewer shells) did not make it. BUT there are still quite a few in the main jar. Some really really tiny shells were added today and the megalopa are swimming up to the surface to check them out and still checking the ones on the bottom as well. They are still eating each other and I think also the fish food I am trying.

Now madly getting together stuff for the transition tank... I wonder how many (IF ANY) will make it that far.

2 water changes today and feeding at 3-4 hourly intervals. More tiny (smaller even) shells added. Last water change was done at 1815 and the water is quite clear. Some spiral water snail shells were added as well to offer a variety. Megalopa definately ready for shells.
Nat keeps asking me are there any in shells yet. My old eyes are finding it hard to tell but if not yet they will be soon.
Added some PRIME to the jar as well. That might be what has made the water a little clearer. Sadly still seeing body parts which means they are still eating each other. Put a couple of dried black worms in as well.

Got the transition tank started. My old crab tank inside a foam esky to keep the heat up. heat mat along the side for the air and on the end to heat the pool. Now to work out what to use for the salt pool. I have a small dish that will do for the fresh with some gravel in the bottom.

I think I am still a bit like this :anon: Scared to actually think about the fact that I am now hopeful that some/one may even make it to land.

Maybe a large tupperware container for the pool? Dunno, I think a large flat dish would help (increase surface area means increased oxygen plus would minimise aggression IMO. In fish it works. ;) ) But I can't believe you got them to megalopa, when I saw your video I gasped. Thankfully we caught it right in time, yeh? *group hug*

Still can't get over the fact that your so close to the finish line; only a few more steps and then you turn into the crazy crab lady!

Congratulations. :) I have been following this thread from the beginning and I must say that I'm impressed! Is this the first time your crabs have laid eggs or were you prepared for them this time?

Two glass jars in a foam esky. Esky had tap water and a fish tank heater. Jars had ocean water and an airstone. Nothing fancy.
