The one climbing up the stick was transfered to the transition tank pool at 0745 on Day 14... When I got home again at 1300 it was nowhere to be seen so hopefully it has dug down for final moult. Apparently this takes about 24hrs.
SO SUnday morning Ill be searching the sand for a moving shell. BUT typically it was almost the same colour as the sand.

I am sooo tired I can hardly function. Mega in the two jars are much the same as the last couple of days. A few are climbing the sticks but don't have shells yet. Silly children.

Nothing more to report this morning. Both jars have mega eating and checking out shells. #2 has a couple in shells but they are getting used to the new feel. Mega in trans tat has not reappeared.

Eggs hatch as soon as they hit salt water. They go through a number of stages zoea 1, zoea 2, megalopa and then they take shells then they have a final moult on land. This is what the transition tank is. The mega with shells on are taken from the jars to the pool in the transition tank. This has a ramp out to the damp sand. They are supposed to go up the ramp and then bury in the sand for their final moult which will turn them into crabs. This is where I lost my last lot in January.
