Would it be theoretically possible to cross-breed different species or would it just not be possible?

We don't know for sure yet, but probably no. Many of these species have been separated for millions of years, so it is very unlikely. In the Pacific, multiple species exist together and are not noted to interbreed, so that's another sign it is not possible. It would take a full chromosomal study and some physical experimentation to be sure, because there are still surprises out there in the wild sometimes. I personally think Ruggies/Es/Aussies would be the most likely to be able to, if any of them could.
