**Were your mites from long term owned crabs or new crabs
New crabs. Just got them yesterday

**What kind of substrate were you using when you got them
They were in a bead a beast type substrate at Petco. At home I use a mix of sand and bed a beast.

**what kind of top do you have on your tank
I think the top to the substrate there is sealed plexi though the doors on the tall tank don't seal completely I have a screen top wrapped in saran wrap at home.

**What is the main type of food you feed - fresh or commercial-describe if fresh the most type you feed (fruit/veggies/meat etc)
They had commercial food in the dishes at petco. Not sure what type but they had 3 different dishes with different food in them. and at home I feed them a lil commercial food with a lot of different fresh food trying different types of fruits and veggies and the like.

**What type of mite did you see (white/tan/black/red) and descrip if u can. Bright red mites. About the colors of the strawberries in the tank that they were in.

**What time of year did you get the infestation. October

**what room is the tank in (bed/dining etc) The tank was in petco. We noticed the mites before we put them into the iso tank. My tanks are in my bedroom.

**is your home normally cool in summer/warm in winter or the opposite (like not all of us have central air that kind of thing) I have central air but I keep the hermies in my bedroom so I can close the vents and keep the bedroom warmer then the rest of the house int he summer and it stays pretty warm in the winter.

**is your home normally "buggy" meaning you have lots of other bugs (spiders/centipedes/daddy long legs) Nope. We have a daddy long legs that we leave alone and my newest kitten came with fleas that we are trying to treat. Just to note I'v been keeping the cats out of the bedroom don't want the flea killer near the hermie cages and steam cleaning my bedroom to keep it flea clean hopefully without chemicals.

**do you own other pets, if so what kind I have 4 cats also.


**** Note: I did the saltwater bath with the 3 new hermies and none of the mites let go and floated up. I read on the crab street journal about mites that sound exactly like what I have that might of came in off a straw and I am thinking that I have the same type of mites and that they prolly came in off the bunch of new straws that they have in there tank.

Screen ¼, saran wrap ¾. This is so there is some air exchange

Fresh- grapes, romaine lettuce, tomatos, carrots, Commercial- FMR, Jurassi Diet

Majority is from Eco Earth/Forest bedding

Majority is new crabs (see how important that inital bath is )

Majority are using screen/homemade type lids

Majority is commercial food (although alot do both)

Majority is from June to Sept

Majority have spiders

Majority are seeing white mites
