Mites

Post by IMS08 » Mon Jan 05, 2015 11:06 pm

Hello!

I was looking in my tank tonight and I saw that I had a gray mite on my log that is in my tank. I saw about 5 really fast mites. Any ideas?

Also, I do have nematodes under my coconut fiber which I have found and was wondering if anyone has dealt with those?

Thank you!

The mites dont sound like mites. How fast were they? Do they jump? Could they be springtails?
Nematodes... do you pre-moisten your sub with SW? I have hopes that this aids in warding away creepers such as nematodes.

Thank you so much! I never thought to pre-moisten my substrate with salt water but will try to poor some saltwater onto the substrate. The bugs I found weren't jumping but seemed to be running across the log. I haven't been able to find them since so hopefully that means that there aren't many there.

Thank you!

Heya no prob! Maybe you can just spray the sw where you see critters for now. Wouldn't want to flood or disturb molters
