Bugs!

Okay, I think I just have booklice in my crabitat. How can I safely cut down on them?

Booklice feed on mold. They're probably eating the moldy food that your crabs bury under the sand. I'd clean the tank well, and make sure to replace the food every day so it doesn't get moldy.

First of all, please don't get carried away with this. They are considered beneficial bugs. They will not hurt the hermit crabs. Bugs come with crabbing. If they bother you, then you can provide dry foods in the evening and take the foods out in the morning with the hermits aren't as active. Are you sure it's booklice and not food mites? A lot of people get those two confused.
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

Food mites, not food lice Image they are little bugs that eat the food. Very similar to booklice. You can purchase isopods to help cut down food mites. They compete with them for food, and as an added benefit, they eat crab poop! Www.isopodconnection.tictail.com
