Fruit Flies

With the tat being warm and humid, it's becoming the perfect environment for fruit flies to want to come in. I don't want them laying eggs in my tank and disgusting maggots crawling around. Will MSW work against fruit flies and prevent maggots? I haven't seen any maggots yet, but I've seen one fruit fly so far. Would any maggots harm the crabs or my isopods in the tank?

Saltwater doesn't do a lot against fruit flies. Keep up with removing old food and make sure they aren't hiding fruit. A fruit fly trap right outside the tank will nab the adults before they reproduce. (50% cider vinegar, 50% water, and a drop of dishwashing soap in an open cup.) The maggots are completely harmless and the crabs will eat them as well!

Whew, maggots harming my crabs was my biggest worry. So it's kind of like mold– harmless, but ugly to look at.
