I recently adopted two new crabs, and at the door the lady told me to not use the sand in container because she had mites. I did not know what to do so they have been sitting in their container for a couple of hours. If I had known this I probably would not have taken them in since I no nothing about this and I don’t want to harm any of my other animals. I tried looking inside but I don’t see anything moving. I’m really not sure what to do please help!

Mites are incredibly common in crabitats, they come from our homes and from outside, and they like the food and moisture the tank provides. If you're not seeing anything stuck to the crabs there is nothing to worry about. There are thousands of species of mites and the vast majority are just living their lives without affecting other animals. The dangerous kind of crab mites (which are extremely rare!) are not going to be running around the tank, they are going to be attached to the crabs.
