rolie polies

Ive seen several accounts of people introducing these into their tanks, as cleaners / hermit food.

I was unclear about one thing; do you leave live rolie polies in the tank? or are they killed beforehand so that crabs can eat them. Just wondering, thanks

Everyone, that I've heard of at least, just leaves them to run freely about the tank.

what do roly polies? look like? i would never put them in the tank because i'm scared of bugs

especially live ones lol.. just curious of how they look

"Bump" means that you are posting to put the topic back at the top of the page.

I've never tried putting pillbugs/roly polies in my tank because I like them too much

...I'd feel bad if they drowned or the hermit crabs ate them. Pillbugs are actually not insects, but crustaceans (like hermit crabs).

my friend sends her brother out in the yard to get a billion of them.
they eat the old poos, the old food, and when they die, the crabbies eat them

its a nice little ecosystem, and theyre fun to hold too so they are sprt of like another pet, just so small that i dont really get too attatched
