Re: Are these LED strip lights safe for hermit crabs?
I'm using a waterpoof version of them. I would not recommend having them inside the tank where the crabs can reach them, but the light isn't harmful.

Okay thank you!! Do you think it's okay if i have both the LED lights on and then my room light on as well sometimes? Like my room light is usually off during the day but in the evening I usually only turn off my room light at around 11pm or so. I also just read that they may find white LED lights too bright? Do you think they mean that just if you have them on at night when they should be in the dark?

Also if I get strip lights do I also need a bulb? Or is one or the other fine?
Re: Are these LED strip lights safe for hermit crabs?
I used to have an old-fashioned fluorescent light bar on top of my tank that I mined from an old fish tank. After the ballast and/or bulb kept blowing I threw it way--like 5 years ago. The only light they've had in 5 years in ambient room light.
A few week ago I bought a 75 gallon tank that came with an LED light. I popped that on top of my current tank while I clean the new tank. I can see them better now, but I don't think they really care. No change in behavior between fluorescent light bar, ambient light only, and the new LED light.
My crabs must think they live in Alaska; they either have light all the time or no light at all!
