Hermie hanging halfway out of shell
Hermie hanging halfway out of shell
I think my crab is about to molt. It is hanging halfway out of its shell and it’s doing it for 24 hours now. It’s on the surface what can I do to make it pleasant for it and it’s tankmates

If it is surface molting, you will need to protect it from your other crabs, but isolating it.
How deep is your substrate?
What are you temp and humidity readings?

It’s dug itself in the corner by the heating pads. And it is not responsive to noise like the other crabs. The substrate is 4 in rn and deeper in some pockets. I was going to add more, but then it started acting strange so I decided to wait. It would sit in the corner not moving, but when my friend visited it leaned out of its shell, and never went back in. I don’t want to pick it up in case it gets stressed. The temp is 75°F and the humidity is 80%. The temp was 77 earlier but I lowered the heat bc I thought it was overheating.

So it is underground now?

It’s in a shallow hole but it’s accessible to the other crabs it’s by a corner so it’s hard for me to reach it . So it dug but it’s not completely underground.
