I was hoping to make a hermit crab tank that they can survive in without my help(minus water changes) so some edible plants, insects, isopods and mossy stuff, i was thinking about half the tabk all sand and half 50/50 ee and sand, so i would put a chia garden and mabye a small asparagus garden(in a buried pot) some grasshoppers and crickets for them to eat, and a mossy half log, isopods for mold…
I havent thought this through much, ill have to do a test run without hermits first to see if it works out, just trying to make a little ecosystem for the hermies to live in
(Also,im not rich at all, so does anyone know a way i can do this with the25 gallon cube shaped tank my hermies are in rn?).

Nah, you'd always have to do water and food changes, so just keep doing what you are doing. Certainly you can add some plants, or isopods etc. And we kind of have a little eco system going already, with the increased heat and humidity. But a tank can't really be 'self sufficient' for healthy crabs.
