Should I dig up my crab?
My crab went under 2 weeks ago. He always does this no big deal. He makes a little window so I know where he is. I notice yesterday the window is no longer there and he is still under. I see a little piece of his shell in the sand. Should I let it be or should I dig him up?

Re: Should I dig up my crab?
If you can still see his shell, I would think he is close enough to the surface to come up if he wants to. I'd just leave him.
But hopefully someone who has had crabs longer than I have will come soon to answer your question!

Re: Should I dig up my crab?
I see two like horns from his shell. I know he is a tough crab a friend give me him. He was locked in her suitcase and she flew back with it. I can only imagine he was scared. I got him a nice 20-gallon tank etc he has been doing great for 4 years. I got other crabs but they all died soon after. He did have a buddy last almost a year but went under and exploded I only found his claw. This crab he has been going under since day 1. He is the only crab to me that acted like a crab. I don't interact with him but to change food and water. If I am up when he is I may sit and watch a bit.

Crabs will move around underground, sounds like he didn’t like the spot by the glass anymore

He has a normal shell but it has a line with bumps on it that look like horns He can go all the way in making it seems like he is no longer in there.https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipO ... ZJtLUwr8uoC: ClareCrabOwner :) wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 2:17 pmWhat kind of shell does he have?
