Question about crab sizing

I was just wondering what size you would consider most hermits that are sold in the pet stores to be? I'm confused about the leg sizing since none of my crabs have seemed to be out often enough yet for me to really check.
Can you go by the size of their shell to get an overall guess?
Each of my crabs is smaller than a ping pong ball with the shell included. would that make them tiny?
Their big pincers are all about 1/4 inch long.

These are the equivalents I use for adoptions when the other person can't send a photo. (Although, everyone always underestimates the size!)
Micro = dime sized
Small = quarter sized
Medium = just under ping pong/golf ball
Large = large egg (long wise), billard ball
Extra large = usually same as a large when closed up, but really thick legs
Jumbo = tennis ball/baseball

Wod, to ease confusion from each crabber - and to also help me remember
- is it the crab could "sit" on that object comfortably or is a similar size to a naked crab? Or is it something completely different?

When the crab is closed up or just peaking out of the shell, the shell and legs would fit inside those objects.
