HCA: Hermit Crab Association

This little guy has been down for quite some time. I think he's been topside for maybe a few days, a week. Doesn't seem to have grown at all. But I'm concerned about the upper part of his legs look like jelly. Did he come up too soon?

Are you referring to the upper section of the leg? It looks normal to me. A freshly molted crab will have a pink tint. It doesn't look like that to me. It's pretty common for paler colored crabs to have that coloring toward their body. I wouldn't worry too much. They usually know when it's safe for them to come up

Maybe his exo isn't completely hardened yet. They look shiny from the pics. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Make sure they have calciums to eat. That is important for them. It helps with their exo.

Thanks. I figured he would know when to come up but thought maybe he was hungry. Lol
