Fingers crossed that my crabs are okay!

I haven't seen my crabs or been by my classroom since Thursday (2/11). There have been numerous power outages and there is currently a boil water notice.
Luckily the superintendent of the school where I work lives near my classroom and has been walking over daily to care for the animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, turtle, fish tank, snake, chinchilla, and the crabs). I told her not to mess with the crabs or the snake.
She ordered a generator for my classroom to keep the animals warm and cozy.
It's so weird texting the superintendent of my school on a daily basis about the animals. Most classroom teachers don't even meet their supers. I'm texting mine on the daily.

I've been wondering about the crabbies and other pets in these storm-affected areas. I will cross my fingers with you that yours are okay!! And what a nice super to look after them for you.

All the animals including the crabbies survived "Snovid21." Lots of wildlife didn't make it. I found birds frozen to death on my front porch and then spent untold hours and dollars making food for them to keep them alive.
100% of my landscaping died and some of my fencing came down, but my house and I; and my classroom critters are all fine!
Now more local wildlife that initially survived the freeze is in jeopardy such as our beloved Mexican Freetail Bats. Those that survived the freeze are now starving to death because their food source (flying insects) all died.

I'm so glad you and the critters are ok! That's so sweet of you to try and help the wildlife. If everyone was like you, the wild critters wouldn't have anything to worry about!

So sad for all the little creatures out there that didn’t make it and/or are struggling. Poor things. Good for you for what you do! And your Super! Happy to hear the crabbies made it!!

Thank you!
I'm pretty devastated by all the wildlife that didn't make it and also all the plants. 100% of my landscaping died including my live oak trees and supposedly cold tolerant plants such as rose bushes.
