Hello.
In approx. 5 months I will be moving no more than 30 minutes to an hour away. I have 6 crabs, most who are buried all the time.
Honestly just how do I move with crabs? Do I dig them up that day? I really would appreciate help.
I am planning of moving them into a 29 gallon tank once we get there. Thank you so so much.

How big/heavy is your tote/crabitat? Wondering if it’s light enough to gently carry it with everyone still in/under. Would make me nervous though. I’ll let the experts handle this one for you Pumpkincrab! Haha

if they are buried i would not recommend traveling with them like that
even if the tank is light and able to be carried if it be difficult even if it’s only .5 hour to an hour
that could collapse their molting tunnels which is bad
there is a way to very very carefully dig them out and isolate them while they are molting tho

Thanks. I'll look more into digging them out and isolating them

Hello!

I moved from AZ to OR to NY with my 7 hermits. They all made it!

I put them into an opaque storage bin with a few holes in it for air. For "substrate" I used moist dye free paper towels. Each night I made sure to keep them somewhere warm in the hotel room.

Not sure if this is the best way to do it, but I had good results both times.
