Crab heater

Hi all,

I previously had a crab heater that was taped to the back of my tank, but discarded it during my recent move, because my crabs seemed okay with the temperature. However, after the move, I've changed their tank and it seems difficult to get the temp to go above 71 degrees. They seem okay and have been living with lower temps and generally high humidity for a while, so am not extremely worried. I live in Kansas. However, I want to order a heater that I can tape to the back of the tank.

What I had before was an alteration of thin brown and black stripes that I strapped to the back of the tank, and I thought I ordered it through Amazon, but no matter how many searches I do, I can't find that order. Does anyone know what I'm referring to, or something similar? My tank is exactly 29.75" wide, but I could make a 30" wide heater work.

Honestly, it didn't heat the tank that much, but was safe for them. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and has a link, or knows a better idea for a crab heater to get my 37 gallon up a few degrees, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks,
Steve

Basically, I need a heater I can tape to the back of my tank that is 29.75 "or 30" wide. Does anyone have a link to that kind of heater? Or something that would work as well?

Thanks,
Steve

Your description doesn’t ring a bell on any one brand specifically. If you are looking for a new pad, though, an Ultratherm is effective (though you need to strap or tape it on yourself).

Amazon often has them in stock, otherwise check Reptile Basics, Bean Farm, or Fluker’s.

Flukers and Ultratherm both make an 11x29 inch pad. Thry are laminated and have the same basic internal design as heat tape, which is what the alternating stripes are.

I run the 11"x23" ultratherms on my 29g, which is the same footprint as your taller 37gal. They have no problem keeping my 29g setups ~15deg warmer than the room temperature if they need to and I have no insulation on my tanks aside from a towel on the top and down the back.

I'm not a huge eBay fan anymore, but that's where I bought mine.https://www.ebay.com/itm/115137344435?h ... Swbb5doLSd
