HCA: Hermit Crab Association

I've been having constant problems with too high humidity. I have a 40 gallon tank, my water pools aren't too big, I have put in dried moss and dried wood. I have a digital heat and humidity guage so I believe it is accurate. My substrate is 5:1 ratio of playsand and eco earth and it's dry. The glass is foggy and has water droplets. I wipe the glass everyday to remove the water droplets but they always come back. I open the lid until the humidity goes down but it spikes up again within a few hours. The heat is totally fine and I'm honestly confused. What else could be playing a factor in my humidity? Why won't my humidity stay at 75-85%?

The condensation on the glass is caused by the difference in temperatures inside the tank and the surrounding room. Your substrate should be moistened to sand castle consistency with dechlor fresh or salt water so the crabs can dig. (You said your substrate is dry right?). Humidity can never be too high, only too low. My humidity in my tanks usually ranges from 90-99%.
