With the thicker eye stalks and the () shaped eyes, my guess would be an Ecuadorian hermit.

Thank you, Thats what I was thinking off the pictures I found on here, But wasn't sure. Kids got 2 of them on vacation in Galveston TX at a souvenir shop. They shouldn't be allowed to sell them, 1 died the nxt day. Literally went to eat and came home it was hanging out if she'll dead. NOTHING they told my daughter about the care for them was remotely correct. Hopefully with the info found here the other will survive

Yw. I'm sorry one passed away already. I agree, I wish it was illegal to collect them from the wild, just to throw them in horrible conditions. Just in case you haven't found them already, here are the basic and Ecuadorian care sheets. Good luck with your remaining buddy.

Yes thank you, I have been reading through them on here and sent them to my daughter who bought the crabs as well. Heading home from vacation today (though we left Galveston the day we bought the crabs) have the cage they came in set up the best we can. Much better than it came. Ditched the rocks and baked some beach sand so he could dig. Heat, 2 water bowls and food other than the pellets they gave us. And first trip when we get home is to get a big plastic tub and eco earth and play sand to set up a bigger and easier maintained cage hopefully. Have the instant ocean should be delivered to house before we make it home. Just need to get a few shells sent over now too.
