heyo
got my hermies about a month ago. two have been buried for a while and one is above the substrate and pretty much just chills in the same spot all the time. i have a log from pet smart in the tank intended as a hiding spot but i don’t think it’s meant for humid environments as it’s seemingly starting to get moldy (i think?) and it smells rly funky/musty in the tank (not dead crab smell tho). i bought a better coconut hut to replace the log but problem is that one of the crabs is buried directly under the log and i’ve seen no indication that he’s coming up soon. i really want to get that log out of there but i’m worried that the renovations will disturb the hermie or cave him in.
any thoughts for what to do?

Re: renovations with buried crabs
Is the log buried into the sand? If it is you may have to leave it for a while. You can spray it with saltwater to help slow down mold in the meantime
Otherwise just remove and replace

it’s slightly buried into the sand—not that deep, but the substrate is also not very deep cause the crabs are tiny. will def try out the saltwater tho, thanks for the advice!!
