When can I let my freshly molted crab out of isolation?

Post by OopsieDaisies008 » Tue Nov 26, 2024 3:37 pm

Hi. I have a hermit crab that surface molted 6 days ago on 11/20. I isolated him (within the tank) so his 2 roommates wouldn’t eat him, but I’m leaving tomorrow for Thanksgiving and will be gone for 4 days. Can I let him back into the main tank now? Or should I keep him in isolation until I get back? He is in an enclosure with the entryway blocked. He has a little water dish (I only had room for one dish, so it’s only dechlorinated water), his exoskeleton, and a little bit of calcium (crushed shells & cuttlebone), green sand, and a protein mix just in case. He has been moving, and I’ve seen him eating and drinking in the past 2 days. Thanks.

I would probably err on the side of caution and leave him in iso. I'd let him back into Gen Pop when you are there to keep an eye on things.
