Earthworms

Would it be okay to keep earthworms in my hermit crab tank???
Just a new crabber trying to take the best care of her crabs she can. :)

I believe earthworms would be safe, as long as you get them from somewhere without pesticides or fertilizers. They would be good for your hermit crabs diet as well! Not sure about molting crabs and stuff though… i think it would be fine though.

Earthworms don’t like salt, so if your substrate is treated with salt or if there is any splashing from the saltwater dish those areas will be no-gos

Thank you! I didn't think about that.
I didn't add any salt to the substrate, and the saltwater usually doesn't spill/splash much. I think it should be fine...

they might, but if the worms die the hermits will likely munch on the carcass

Oh, okay! Thank you. I think I'll add a couple worms, and if they don't like the cage at least they'll be crab food!
