Pool Water Depth
Pool Water Depth
How fully should the hermies be able to submerge? Should it be the whole shell with no part sticking out of the water or with some shell out of the water?
Re: Pool Water Depth
If you don’t have a lot of tank space and you need smaller water pools you should be ok with them having some of their shell sticking out. I think as long as they can get water into their shells they’ll be ok, the recommendation is to be able to fully submerge though.

Re: Pool Water Depth
For my 75 I used 8 cup rectangle shaped food containers. They are about 5 X 8 and 4-5 inches deep, big enough for 2 of my guys to fully submerge at once. I put them near the the front of the tank so they are easier to pull out and change. I think 3 of them were like $4 at at Walmart. I picked up two packs so I could double them up inside the tank.
With a 250 gallon tank you could probably use two 2.5 gallon aquariums for the pools. They would probably be a pain changing the water unless you added a filtering system. It would be pretty cool though!

It is topfin white aquarium sand mixed with eco earth. I Did 50/50 for the first three inches but tried to go appx 5:1 when I made the right side 6in.

Beautiful tank! Just so you know, the entire tank should be at least 6" deep ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
