Hello! I’ve had my hermies for almost 2 years now, but came across this website and realized I have A LOT to learn, and am lucky my hermits have done well so far. I’m trying to figure out what conditioners are okay. Before seeing this forum I bought Topfin water conditioner for the fresh water and Thrive hermit crab saltwater conditioner. I’ve been using the freshwater conditioner for awhile now, but haven’t yet used the Saltwater one and now I’m worried about both. They were both from Petsmart.
Thoughts?
Salt water conditioner?

Hi!
Here is the care/info sheet about water:

Many of us use a dechlorinator called Prime. You can use that to dechlorinate your fresh and salt water. Salt water should be made using a marine salt like Instant Ocean.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! I had been using the bottled salt water, but read that it can be unsafe and is not expensive so I want to make the switch. I didn’t realize that you condition the water and then add the salt. Thank you for the links! I feel like there’s so much to learn I’m a tad overwhelmed!

I totally understand. I had a lot to change when I first found this site, but I think my hermies are much happier and healthier now. Just take it one step at a time and I'm sure you'll have everything down in no time!
