soaking salt

Post by Tiggee6645 » Sun Jul 25, 2021 1:56 pm

I got hermit crab soaking salt from the pet store before I had read all the stuff about which kinds of salt water solutions are best. I'm currently using Instant Ocean, but am wondering is I can use the soaking salt for anything else crab related. Or should I just use it for weed killing in my backyard?

I wouldn't use it; just chalk it up as part of the learning curve. :|

(I wouldn't use it in your yard either; if you successfully salt the ground somewhere, it won't just affect the weeds. . . )

The soaking salt isn’t bad, but it’s not as beneficial as marine salt since it lacks a lot of minerals. You can still use it for soaking goods to slow mold growth (and honestly using it in place of Instant Ocean isn’t harmful, just don’t use it as your only marine salt in the long-run).
