Water hole?
Water hole?
Thinking this would do the trick. I'm new to this hobby and would love to know what other people use for salt and fresh water baths

People use all kinds of things! Looks like it'd make a good pool, built in ramps even! I personally use 2 large clear bowls from the craft section with small river rocks with an air stone in each. Honestly, it's personal preference- as long as its big enough for the largest crab to submerge.

Re: Water hole?
I am never really happy with my pools. I have used many things, but there are two things I try to avoid, one is thin plastic. I have had 3 times when thin plastic pools have eventually cracked and flooded my tank. Not fun. I use nice thick, clear plastic serving dishes sold in a party section of the dollar store or craft stores. I like that they are transparent, so without decorating them they blend into the tank, although of course I put river rocks on the bottom for traction and wood pieces for them to climb out. The other thing I have discovered I don't like is anything too large or too deep, because I don't like to lose molting space in the tank. Like the KKs are great as far as being sturdy and decent size, but they are so deep it leaves only a few inches of space under them so I may lose molting space. I look for a size that is ONLY big enough for my biggest to submerge and I don't like them any bigger than that.
I'm always still on the lookout for the perfect water dishes. I kind of like the idea of those kidney dishes, like they use at the hospital (DK what they are called). Not sure they'd be deep enough-I can't find them anywhere except online.

They are really thin. Didn't think about that. Thanks so much for the tip. I got my two from my boss. Her daughter was not taking care of them I'm very familiar with snakes, lizards and tarantulas but this is my first experience with Hermie's. I am in love with them.

Re: Water hole?
It's a shame - I think I've used that exact pain tray before and I LOVE the size, the slope-it's just what I like as far as size and shape. I think I saw one that look identical except made of thick rubbery plastic and black and Walmart.
Lots of people love their paint tray water dishes and don't get floods, but floods are just such a pain I try very hard to avoid anything that possibly could cause flooding issues.

Re: Water hole?
If they're too thin just get a couple more and stack them together to make it nice and sturdy, they look like the type that should stack pretty close together.
