I think I can help you on this part- I have freshwater hornwort and ANACHARIS(aquatic turtles eat this as a snack) in my red cherry shrimp tank(7.5g tank), and they've completely overgrown its tank..........they do grow fast(faster with lighting) and if you must go with freshwater plants, I think some of the fast growers like these will fit the bill As for my 7.5 freshwater aquascape tank, I do not fertilize, nor dose it with CO2(very low tech) and they seem to be thriving.. so it is doable without messing with fertilizer.Big MaC wrote:So I have gotten a little more research done and I think I have decided on this

According to what I have read this will work well AND it will be safe for both the hermit crabs and the live animals/plants
