HCA: Hermit Crab Association

Looked through several dozen posts both new/active and archived and hadn't noticed anything about this product and I've been using it for years and haven't had a problem with it yet.

The product claims to neutralize chlorine, chloramines, heavy metals and adds a slime coat.

I'd used the Tetra brand water conditioner for years and then it became excessively expensive where I live so I switched to Doc Well Fish Stress Coat which then sold out to API still Stress Coat but that product became unavailable to me as the stores which had been selling it previously stopped after the product was re-branded, then I went to using the Top-Fin complete conditioner around 2009 and due to problems sourcing that product I ended up switching one last time to the Jungle brand and have been using it since 2010.

Often its the only conditioner that my local Wal*Mart even has and my local mom and pop pet store only carries it exclusively due to issues they've been having with their suppliers.

Just thought I'd throw my two cents in and mention a product that seems to have slipped in under the radar.

Added! There are so many out there I'm sure I missed a few on the water FAQ.

Only downside is that it doesn't do ammonia, so if you have chloramine treated water it won't be enough on it's own. Ironically, "treating" the chloramine just means breaking it down into chlorine and ammonia. Unless a product says it treats ammonia on top of that then it will be left in the water.

@wodesorel, thats okay because my county doesn't use chloramine to treat the tap water they only use chlorine in the form of chlorine salt tablets that are dumped and blended into the incoming water as its being processed at the local facility this method of treating the tap water overloads the water in plant eliminating 99% of the bacterial strains in the water, then the water is passed through a filtering process utilizing R/O filtration.

The bigger issue with tap water for me is the presence of dissolved heavy metals like lead at 2.55 parts per billion and copper at 1300 parts per billion these contaminants come from the piping in our homes here.

I guess this is why I haven't had a problem with using the Jungle conditioner as its currently addressing all the issues with my tap water.
