Saltwater Setup

I thought you’d like to see how my saltwater preparation works :)
Firstly, I mix my bag of Instant Ocean salts into a big jug of water.

I pour in five half cups of salt into that five gallon jug, and then mix it. I am now mixing the salt a day before the pools need to be changed, then the mixture is ready.

I use a plastic funnel to put the salt through with ease into the jug :)

Is there any reason you are mixing 5 gallons of saltwater at once???

How long does that jug last? A single gallon of saltwater will last me about a week or so.

There’s nothing wrong with your setup, I just wonder if it would be easier for you to make it in smaller batches.

That’ll last me three weeks, or just three changes. That’s perfect. I go through a lot of salt, more than you’d expect. I got tired of mixing a small jug, so I wanted to do this at once.

Yes, because it makes most sense. It’s not going to sit there with an open top, I seal it. It’s far more practical to have a larger quantity of salt than a tiny bottle that needs refilling every half week.

I do this too- but with glass gallon jugs. I have to refill/replace my freshwater constantly, but my saltwater tends to last longer, around two weeks. I would get larger jugs, but I simply don't have the space!

Well, if it works, keep going, I guess.

My saltwater bowl gets just as dirty as my freshwater, so I end up changing it out every other day.

Poop, sand, food, you name it, I’ve found it in there.

Sometimes, just to mess with people, I’ll say the crabs “pea’d” in the water, then show them the vegetables I pulled out the dishes.

Once I noticed a molded, old grape in my freshwater bowl. Some stuff you just can't find answers to

I've only had poo, sand, and ecoearth in my bowls/small pools, but the salt water dish seems to hold onto those sand and soil particles for dear life. No amount of rinsing has worked to clear it out.
