Is water from the refrigerator okay to use temporarily?

Tap water is generally considered safe if treated with Prime before use. Depending on what filtration is used on your fridge it may remove some important trace elements. I would just allow the water to reach room temperature before offering it to your crabs.

I just use galloned water. Question: Is the expiration date "real"?

I believe some expiration dates are just mandated by the government for anything product for human consumption. It's not like the day after the date the water will be unfit to drink. Depending how and where water is stored it can go bad if left in the sun, or stay longer if kept in a cool, dry place. I'm not saying to ignore the date but use your better judgement.

Yeah, I was thinking that, and when I asked my parents they said the same thing, haha! I keep it in my garage, so it's pretty cool in there. Thank you!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Unless it is distilled or reverse osmosis, it should be treated with Prime as well.
