I am new to hermit crab keeping, and I just need to know whether I should be giving my hermits tap water. They have been doing well so far, but i don't want to harm.

NO
Never give your hermit crabs untreated tap water. There are many places in the US where tap water contains chemicals which will kill hermit crabs.
You need to treat the water first just like you would treat tap water before adding it to an aquarium.

Prime is an excellent dechlorinator. It removes chlorine and chloramine, detoxifies ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and heavy metals. As long as you treat your tap water with this first, it's ok to use.
