How often should bubblers run in pools?

I just added two pools to my crabitat- I put down aquarium rocks and shells to help getting in and out, and have an air pump with a line to each pool with an air stone attached. I’m curious as a new HC owner:

1- The bubbling is pretty aggressive- it’s not causing a lot of splash-over but it’s fairly noisy and the end of the pool with the bubbler is really active. Should I buy a valve to turn down the flow to lessen the bubbles? How do you know what the right level of “bubbling” is?

2- Are the bubblers supposed to run 24/7? I saw another post about using a timer to cycle them on and off, what is the frequency in which they should run? The airpump and bubbling is pretty noisy.

There is no one “right” amount of bubbling. It really depends on what you’re comfortable with.

I installed both a valve and a timer on my bubblers so I had better control over them. If you’d prefer a more controlled system a few add-ins wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Thanks for the response- do you keep your bubblers going 24/7 or do you cycle them on and off?

I had mine cycle for the convenience. Leaving them on all the time evaporated the pools.

I have valves on all of my air pumps, but I leave my bubblers on all of the time. :) I find my hermit crabs love the bubblers.
