Would placing two 5.5gal aquariums next to each other, one for salt water and the other for fresh, be a problem? I’m potentially thinking of adding some sort of waterfall to the freshwater as well so I’m not sure if it would cause any issues like minor splash over. Especially with running filters? Pumps? I still need to do more research
Is it better to keep them in different locations or does it not matter. I currently keep my two water tubs next to each other but I’m thinking in the wild you wouldn’t find two distinct water bodies next to each other.
The plan overall was to silicone a glass divider into a 65gal then have the tanks to one side and sand to the other so I can easily remove them if I need to, have added protection from leaks, and I figure it prevents them from burrowing under. Should I need to take them out and put them back in. There wouldn’t be a lot of space left under them anyway.

Just have two different water sources in a bowl your largest hermit crab could fit in. And it’s okay to have to have the two sources of water next to each other, the hermit crabs will know what is what. I know someone who had a filter for their water but I do not know about a waterfall. A waterfall will definitely help bring in air flow and help raise the humidity/ keep it moist in your tank.

Basically agreeing what they said, minus the waterfall allowing air flow, unless there's an air input with the pump feeding the waterfall, it will only add humidity by increasing surface movement/small water droplets (vapour).giannaw wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 10:59 amJust have two different water sources in a bowl your largest hermit crab could fit in.
