Duckweed in pools

I was wondering if it would be beneficial to have duckweed in the crabs salt and fresh water pools since I would have some extra. I am ordering some for my other aquariums and thought about putting in in with the crabs too! Would they eat it, would it give them extra nutrients like it does for fish? Also I read it can help the water not evaporate as fast, and filter it. As well I am wondering about the size of my pools, they are only Tupperware containers so would the duckweed over take them quickly? Any advice helpful

Duckweed reproduces quickly so between your aquarium and the crab pools you’ll likely have plenty so long as they have light and still water. May not do too well in the saltwater, though.

It’s not a bad thing to have, and the crabs will snack on it. It will absorb ammonia from the water but that doesn’t replace regular water changes.
