Chunks of salt left over

Post by Guest » Fri Sep 29, 2006 10:31 pm

The salt water I use leaves big chunks of crystalized salt when it evaporates. If I use it to mist with, will I end up with chunks of salty sand and bedding? I know you're supposed to mist with salt water to help prevent mold but I don't want to keep throwing out bedding every other day because it looks like I'm seasoning it so I can eat it. Am I mixing it wrong if it's doing this? I use API Aquarium Salt.

Do you mix it until all the salt is dissolved? I think it's natural for salt water to leave a salt residue when it evaporates. I do mix salt water with the substrate, but I don't mist the glass with it because of the residue. If you really want to use it to mist with, you could mix it a little weaker, just for spraying with.
