Red sea aquarium salt

Today I went to an aquarium store and asked if they had any marine grade salt. I told the guy that I'd be using it for my hermit crabs so he gave me a container full of the salt that the store uses for their tanks for no charge :) He said it was red sea brand, and when I asked how much salt to use per litre he said about 4-5 teaspoons. Has anybody used this product or can lend any advice on the correct salt to water ratio?

The amount would be the same as the other brands - 1/2 cup per gallon of water and I just realized that you are in Australia and that probably means absolutely nothing to you.... Hang on....

34g per liter of water

You are seriously lucky to have found Red Sea! I've been hunting it locally for over a year now and no one seems to be able to order it in. (My pet store lady is on her third distributor and every time she places an order she adds it but they never send it. :( ) It's considered to be one of the best marine mixes for inverts. Each brand has strengths and weaknesses in it's elemental mix since none are exactly the same and none are exactly like sea water, but Red Sea's formula is great for crustaceans.

And congrats on the free-bee! :D

Haven't personally used it but I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I second wodesorel's recommendation of 34g to 1L - that seems to be the going rate for all the salts I've looked it when I've converted it to metric.

Ahh thank you so much! Especially for the conversion :) haha. Good to know that it's a great brand and good luck on your search!
And thanks again tnt4eva :) you've helped me out so much.

Hey wodesorel, you can but Red Sea from the HCP by the gallon. It's a tad expensive at like 1.75 a gallon though.

We love red sea, that is what my husband prefers to use in his reef tanks. I give the crabs the same salt the reefs are getting. The local store that carried it closed so now we only get it when we travel to York, to visit that pet place. We use Oceanic otherwise.

I saw red sea salt at my local petco if that helps anyone, it was next to the instant ocean brand salt.
