Recording molts?

Post by hthecvt » Sat Oct 08, 2016 11:52 pm

Hello!

Do any of you have a good way to record molting of your crabs? An app would be awesome!

Thanks!

The crabbers that do track molts (a good idea, by the way) appear to do so the old-fashioned way, in a physical journal kept near the crabitat.
PPs are Big Enzo, Charles Paris and Mr Pinch
On the Big Beach in the Sky: Murray, Gino, Oscar, Gordon, Ignatz, Harry and King Felix the Pale
Also Mom to Imogene the Syrian Hamster

I was thinking about that, but I think I would suck at it, lol.

Not to thread jack, but I was curious as to how to track the molts if your crabs like to dig for fun?

You make when they go down. And when they come up, it's not exact. But after you have them for awhile you get an idea of their habits, and a better idea of how long a regular molt takes for that craband when to expect one, so it's easier to know.

I personally note it on my blog when they go down, and just keep a timeline in my head of how many weeks they've been down. As far as apps go, you could always stick it on your notepad or calendar :)

I track any upgrade/cleaning/addition of decorations and what type/ as well as when crabs begin excessive digging and the actual burial. Everything on my calendar . This way if anything bad happens hopefully I can pinpoint so i never do it again. Also after 3 weeks of misting a box of sand, my time telling abilities get wonky. I need an accurate date.
