Food or No Food?

Post by rhemaangel » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:52 pm

Yesterday was moving day to the main 'tat for my successfully molted babies (YAY! :apple: ) I still have 5 of them down molting.

Question is -- do I need to leave a food dish in their respective ISOs, or can I take them (the dishes, not the crabs) out until they show signs of coming up? The water pools will definitely stay in.

There are moss pits in each tank to help with humidity as well. They also THEORETICALLY hold extra shells (the ones that don't get buried, anyway. LOL!)

So what do I do now??? :read2:

I'd advise to continue to feed them regularly.

I have a similar situation that I am waiting for molters to come up in 2 tanks to move into my 90 gallon. In the tanks with molters down I keep just a small amount of dry food, but a healthy mix of protein, minerals, etc. That lasts for quite a few days before starting to get damp so I don't need to change the food daily in those tanks. I just keep a close eye for any sign that someone has been up - disturbed sand, dirt in the water, etc.

We usually put two bowls when we have someone in iso... one has something like cuttlebone or eggshells that doesn't really go bad and we don't have to worry about, the other gets something like nuts that will last sometimes up to a week before it gets icky
