Does all the exo need to be eaten put crab in the main tank?

Post by Animalperson » Sat Feb 21, 2015 7:34 pm

I had one of my crabs do a surface molt a little over a week ago. I put her in an iso under a coconut shell hut. Today I noticed she was hanging out outside of the hut, her shell seemingly fully hardened. She still has a tiny bit of her exo left though. Should I put her back in the main tank or should I wait untill all her exo is gone?

No. They often leave behind some parts. Hard parts of a leg or 2 sometimes part of the big pincher. Just make sure she is out and about and active like usual before putting her back in and give her a bath or at least a quick dip in the fresh water before.
