PP above ground, hasn't moved for almost 3 months. Molting?

In the middle of February, I rescued a small PP from a friend who was keeping it one of those sad wire cages. He told me it hadn't moved for a couple days before I got it from him (though I think it may have been longer). The PP was bright red when I got him, I thought maybe he had just done an above-ground molt, and would need to hibernate to harden his shell? But that was a long time ago, and the crab hasn't moved at all since then. I put him inside a partially buried clay mug for shelter when I first got him, and every day when I mist I look to see if he's changed at all. Nothing. He doesn't smell either, so I assume he's not dead... so what the heck is going on? This is my first pet hermit crab.

Hmmm, very strange. I hate to say it but that doesn't sound good. Can you see any part of his body or is he tucked up in the shell? Can you post a picture without disturbing him too much?

If he hasn't moved from that spot in that long, I'm afraid to say he's probably passed. :(
