HCA: Hermit Crab Association

Hi everyone, this is not an emergency but I am very confused and worried. Last night, my crab Bungie who had been down for a couple days came up and started eating from a food bowl that had been in for a couple days. This morning, I discovered a thin white piece of what looked like skin in the bowl. It was not in the shape of what I've seen pictures of exoskeleton looks like so I don't know what it is. The crab, Bungie, is gone so I assume he went back under the surface. I took the bowl out and washed it out as well. Does anyone know what this was?

I think she washed it out...

That was my guess too but if we don't see it we have no idea what she is asking about. Lol like my 6 year old asking me "what's that?" In a huge store without even pointing. Lol

Sounds like mold or fungus growth, if the food had been in for a few days. You can get some really bizarre looking growths sometimes!
