HCA: Hermit Crab Association

I've had this little guy for about 4 months now, about a week ago started acting strange, he was walking around without a shell for few hours and was showing all the signs of molting. I prepared an iso tank for him and not even an hour after putting him in he went completely limp and has been in this position for a little over a week. I know playsand alone isn't the best substrate, i usually mix with coconut fiber and playsand but this was all I had at the time. I know you shouldn't mist a molting crab, but I've been lightly misting the opposite side of the tank once a day otherwise it'd be too dry. I keep the cage 3/4ths of the way covered in a dim room so it's nice and dark for him.

There is a faint smell but it isn't strong like the one other crab I've had pass away.

Basically, how long do I wait until I know he isn't molting?

He isn't moving, his antennae aren't moving and he slightly smells.

unfortunately, he has most likely passed. You said it has been a week? However, I wouldn't do anything until you smell the stink that you have smelt in the past. You just really don't know for sure, until you smell that smell...sorry you are having to deal with this
