Herminy was last seen in a window that my son called "The Bat Signal" the morning of March 6:

Two weeks later his only tank mate went down, so the 10g has effectively been empty since then. Late, late night Friday April 1, I did my usual cursory glance into the 10g on my way to feed Junior in the 20g... and there was Herminy, pretty as you please in the middle of the tank! I did a double take--it was April Fool's day, after all, LOL--but yes, he was up!

Just before he went down he had begun to relax, sleeping in the open, not running away at feeding time, even coming out of his shell when I picked him up. Post-molt, he is more skittish than ever. He froze at first, then scrambled away and threw himself back down his rabbit-hole just as fast as he could.

As a result I couldn't get a good look at him to see if/how he's changed. I'm assuming he molted because he's primarily an "above ground" crab, was down for a month, and when I saw him Friday night he had devoured an entire shell dish of crushed cuttlebone! Come to think of it, his last meal before going down was also a big dish of calcium (in fact, he dragged my favorite shell dish under with him). Since coming up he's been inactive, just hunkering down in the moss pit and only coming out to eat. I assume this is normal as he is recovering/gaining strength?
I have two down in another tank right now having their first molt in captivity, thinking good thoughts!
