Blind Hermie??

Post by Dr.Claw » Fri May 20, 2016 10:46 am

New hermie mom and still learning by trial and error...lol! Recently had two successful molts and both crabs have returned to the main tank looking great!! However, my older/larger crab had one white eye before molting, now....he has two white eyes and his molting process is done. Is it normal for them to have white eyes after a molt?? The other crab that molted at the same time, his eyes look clear and bright. :? Cheers to all and thanks :D

Sounds like he has some damage to his eyes. This could have happened before you got him or during his molt. It can be corrected during his next couple molts, but sometimes not. He'll be fine either way, they rely on their other senses more. :)

Thanks CallaLily....that makes me feel better! At least I know that he does use his other senses more. He is eating and moving around really well and seems happy! :crabblush:
